The District Attorney has the responsibility of prosecuting all felony, gross misdemeanor, and juvenile offender cases committed anywhere within the County, as well as all misdemeanor cases occurring within the County, but outside of incorporated cities.

The Office of the District Attorney is:

The legal branch of local government representing the Eureka County Commission and other county agencies in administrative and litigation matters. The office prosecutes all felony crimes and many misdemeanors occurring within the County. Within the last few years, the office filed felony and misdemeanor charges against defendants for crimes ranging from petit larceny to murder. These cases are aggressively prosecuted by the District Attorney.
